Meet with Master Gardeners for assistance with your gardening questions! Volunteers will provide advice grounded in research-based science and work in partnership with you on horticulture topics. Find the right plant for your environment, learn about composting or insect infestations, investigate the unknown pathogen destroying your beloved plants, and everything in between! Plant Clinics are held in the Humphrey Room on the second Saturday of each month.
If you’d like to bring in a plant sample, please follow the instructions below:
- Plant problem: the sample should clearly show both unhealthy and healthy tissue. To keep your sample fresh, put the cut end of the stem in a moist paper towel. Be careful to keep your cut plants in a cool and dark location to prevent wilting.
- Plant identification: include photos or samples of the vegetative part of the plant (leaves, branches, stems), a portion of the fruiting or flowering structure, and a representative portion of the stem or bark. The more structures, the better chance for correct identification.
- Insect identification: bring an intact specimen in a small container soon after capture. Store in a cool dark place.

11:00 am – 1:30 pm
April through June, Hood Canal Adventures offers a 2.5 hour American Bald Eagle Viewing Kayak Tour! Our Spring low tides uncover the bounty of the sea, and the plain midshipman sculpin spawning season serves up easy pickings for Bald Eagles. Bald Eagles from around the Puget Sound flock to the shores of the Hood Canal during this time. It is not uncommon to see 40 to 60 Bald Eagles on the beach and perched in overhanging trees, and some days we’ve seen over 100! Watch and learn about Bald Eagles with our Biologist and Naturalists and be sure to bring your camera for some rare up-close photos of eagles in their natural environment! If you prefer a date that is not listed just give us a call to arrange. We can conduct this tour almost any day within the season parameters.

Lunch in the Wild Kayaking Tour with Hood Canal Adventures
11:00 am – 2:30 pm
Join Hood Canal Adventures for a 3.5 hour LUNCH IN THE WILD KAYAKING TOUR! On this guided adventure you paddle along the rocky shoreline of the North Hood Canal in search of the area’s abundant wildlife before stopping at a secluded beach for lunch, swimming, and beach combing. Seals, eagles, marine invertebrates, small fish and river otters may be spotted along the way and occasionally we encounter larger marine mammals such as Orca, humpback whales and California Sea Lions.
Bring your own lunch or arrange with us to pick up a sandwich lunch from The Pleasant Harbor Marina Galley ($16 each). Please wear shoes that are sturdy and can get wet. There are many oysters on the beach were we dine, swim and beachcomb and they can be quite sharp. The waters in the Hood Canal can reach 73 degrees F in the summer, so bring your swimsuit for June through September tours! Or any time of year if your a polar plunger!
All kayaking and safety equipment included. Arrive no later than 10:45 am for a 11:00 am launch time.
If your preferred date and time is not listed in the ticket link, simply call us to book 360.301.6310. We can schedule this tour almost any day of the year.
