“Falls View” Trail Waterfall in Quilcene
This waterfall access is located off US Highway 101 at Falls View Campground (US Forest Service), a distance of four miles south of Quilcene or nine miles north of Brinnon. VIEW A MAP. Best to visit in autumn through spring, as the fall can dry up during a particularly dry summer. Scroll down for video!!
Visitors here have two choices of walking trails – The “Canyon Trail” is steep, with intermediate exertion, and the “Loop Trail” is easy. Drive to the back of the left (south) campground loop to access either trail. If the campground gate is closed (seasonally) park at the entrance on Hwy 101 and walk in. There are public restrooms, picnic spots and free parking whichever trail you choose. Our amazing wild rhododendrons are in full bloom here mid-May to early June!
The challenging “Canyon Trail” hike is steep, a 10-20% grade 0.6 mile long forested trail that rewards hikers with very close views of the 200′ falls from several points along the way down.
The “Loop” trail is shorter and easier. It begins in the south loop (left side) of the campground along the course of the Big Quilcene River far below. This Loop is just 0.1 miles long, very family-friendly. If the campground gate is closed, park at the entrance and walk in less than ¼ mile to the south loop and access the trail.Your view of waterfall is from the overlook near the picnic area.
