Boffer Swordplay & Excersise

Boffer sword play is a physical sport with light contact, similar in intensity to soccer and a pillow fight combined. Boffers, constructed of foam-wrapped PVC pipe, duct tape and some imagination are used in live-action roll-playing games and mock combat. This after-school activity attracts kids and teens ages 6 to 18. Chaz Hillyard will coach participants and boffers are provided by the Library if you don’t bring your own.

Quilcene residents will celebrate Worthington Park and Quilcene School in the first-of-its-kind collaboration in putting on a Halloween Harvest Festival from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday. The festival is free to the public with donations encouraged to Parents Teachers Kids (PTK). Leading up to the festival from Sunday through Tuesday will be entry and installation of scarecrows, which can be brought to the Linger Longer Stage at Worthington Park from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Hear an intimate concert in a beautiful room “at the end of the earth.” Concerts are all ages and admission is by donation. Matt Snook (dobro and banjo) and Steve Blanchard (guitar and mandolin) formed Slipshod in 2012 out of a common background of playing Bluegrass music. Now, as a duo, they have incorporated music from Gordon Lightfoot, Norman Blake, Simon and Garfunkel, Tim O’Brien, and more. They play a mix of originals, familiar melodies and dynamic instrumentals. Their harmonies and unique vocal interpretations add to their precise instrumental talents.
